The Strategic Foresight Initiative (SFI) team is scheduling a Webinar/Conference Call on Wednesday, October 24, 12:00 – 1:00 pm CST to discuss and explore the following strategic needs classified as “Dynamic Partnerships”:

1.       Empower individuals, neighborhoods and communities to play a greater role throughout all phases of disasters.

2.       Proactively engage business in all emergency management phases and solicit its contribution to policy development in light of the critical nature of private sector capabilities.

Jeanie Moore, Senior Advisor, Private Sector Division of the Office of External Affairs at the Federal Emergency Management Agency will present on FEMA’s focused efforts to engage the private sector throughout the spectrum of emergency management. Dynamic public/private partnerships are so important to emergency management, as they can bring additional resources or information to help better prepare for and manage a crisis. This presentation will cover some of the key challenges and potential solutions in developing dynamic partnerships, and offer key information on tools and resources available to you in your own partnership efforts.

Kevin M. Burr, Program Specialist, National Disaster Recovery Planning Division, Recovery Directorate at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, will introduce the National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF). The NDRF was written over the course of almost two years in collaboration with almost 40 Federal and National Level agencies and organizations.  It is designed to provide a standard and coordinated way to focus the Nation’s resources on the needs of communities recovering from a disaster.  Some of the NDRF’s core principles that support the SFI Strategic Needs include individual empowerment, local primacy, planning, partnership and unity of effort.

As part of the conference call, the SFI team will provide a brief overview of the strategic needs highlighted above and invite participants to share anecdotal information about how their programs/initiatives are meeting these needs, along with any challenges and solutions identified when implementing actions to meet the strategic needs.
