Our topic will be a new report published by The National Academies Press, Disaster Resilience: A National Imperative. Increasing the nation's resilience to natural and human-caused disasters will require complementary federal policies and locally driven actions that center on a national vision.
Our guest will be Susan L. Cutter, Ph.D., Chair of the authoring committee and Carolina Distinguished Professor of Geography at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Cutter has been working in the risk and hazards fields for more than twenty-five years and is a nationally recognized scholar in this field. She has authored or edited eight books and more than 50 peer-reviewed articles.
