An estimated 13 million under-age kids are on Facebook. Teens text an average of 60 times a day, with girls texting over a 100 messages per day. The average child consumes over 7.5 hours of entertainment each day among all their media devices.

Is it any wonder it’s hard to get them to come to dinner?

Come to our community internet safety discussion, to be led by Norton’s Internet Safety Advocate, Marian Merritt. She will share with us the latest information about what young people are doing online, the real concerns we parents should have and actionable strategies and tips for getting technology under control. From social networking to sexting, cyber bullying to cybercrime, you’ll walk away with a new plan for helping your kids learn to use technology wisely and safely.

Marian Merritt authored Norton’s “Family Online Safety Guide,” an award-winning practical guide for parents on protecting children online.

She has been with Symantec/Norton’s consumer team for over 15 years. Merritt has appeared on numerous TV, radio, online and print news programs including ABC’s “Good Morning America”, New York Times, USA Today, US News and World Report, Time, Fox News, CNN, CNET.com, CNN.com, CNBC.com, CosmoGirl, Parenting, Family Circle magazine and others. She is a mother of three school-aged children and resides in Los Angeles.
