EMForum.org is pleased to host a one hour presentation and interactive discussion Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Our topic will be the new emergency preparedness requirements for nuclear facilities that became effective Dec. 23, 2011 with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) adoption of its final rule, Enhancements to Emergency Preparedness Regulations. During April of this year, FEMA issued the updated  Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program Manual to provide guidance for implementation of the new requirements.

Our guests will include Robert Kahler, Branch Chief of the NRC's Emergency Preparedness Inspection and Regulatory Improvements Branch where he is responsible for maintaining oversight of the emergency preparedness rule implementation effort and inspection program. Mr. Kahler has over 33 years of extensive experience in nuclear power encompassing the areas of emergency preparedness, Pressurized Water Reactor operations, and licensed operator training.

Timothy A. Greten, Deputy Director of FEMA's Technological Hazards Division (THD) will also join us. The division is responsible for the Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program (REPP) and the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP). Mr. Greten previously served in the FEMA Office of Policy and Program Analysis.

Please make plans to join us, and see the Background Page for links to related resources and participant Instructions. On the day of the program, use the Webinar Login link not more than 30 minutes before the scheduled time. The password is attend. As always, please feel free to extend this invitation to your colleagues.
