Webinar: Perspectives from the Christchurch Earthquake

  • 05/05/2011
  • 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Webinar

Our topic will be the earthquake that struck near Christchurch, New Zealand during February, the country's worst natural disaster in decades. A delegation of American government, business and community leaders had been in Christchurch for a meeting of the United States-New Zealand Partnership Forum, including our guest who will share his perspectives on the event.

Our special guest will be Timothy W. Manning, FEMA's Deputy Administrator for Protection and National Preparedness since May 2009. As a former firefighter, emergency medical technician (EMT), rescue mountaineer, hazardous materials specialist and hydrologist, he brings almost two decades of diverse, frontline emergency management experience to the Agency. Prior to joining FEMA, Mr. Manning served as the Secretary of the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Please make plans to join us, and see the Background Page for related materials and Instructions. If this will be your first time to participate, please check your connection at least a day in advance by clicking on the Live Meeting Login link. The Live Meeting client must be used in order to access the audio.
