Webinar: Voluntary Organization in Emergency Management - Who They Are and How to Partner with Them

  • 05/04/2011
  • 12:00 PM - 12:59 PM
  • Webinar

Course Description:

The webinar will focus on the services provided by voluntary organizations during the 2009 Alaska floods and the strategies the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) used to partner with these agencies. The circumstances were bleak, time was running short, and the Alaskan villages needed help fast. Partnering was the solution and it worked! The Federal Coordinating Officer for the Alaska Floods and the Disaster Response Coordinator for one of the voluntary organizations will discuss the situation and answer your questions.

Course Goals:

At the completion of this training, participants will have a basic knowledge of:

• The voluntary organizations available that support disasters;

• The valuable services provided by local, State, and national voluntary organizations during all functions of emergency management; and

• The strategies used by FEMA to partner with voluntary organizations during the 2009 Alaska floods.
