Briefing on Iowa Spring Precipitation and Flooding Outlooks

Is the stage set for another wet spring? What is the risk of flooding in Iowa this spring?

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the ISU Climate Science Program will host public information briefing to discuss anticipated Iowa spring rainfall and flood outlooks.

Program Agenda

  • Recent changes in Iowa precipitation, ISU Climate Science Program
  • Midwest Spring Precipitation Outlook, NOAA Climate Prediction Center Staff
  • Midwest Spring Flood Outlook, Steve Buan, North Central River Forecast Center
  • Iowa Spring Flood Outlook, Jeff Zogg, National Weather Service Des Moines
  • Question and answer session with the audience

The program will consist of briefings by national and local climate and weather experts who issue rainfall and flood outlooks. The program will culminate with the Iowa Spring Flood Outlook, an annual webinar initiated last year through sponsorship by MidAmerican Energy and Safeguard Iowa Partnership.

Attendees will have ample time to discuss the briefings with presenters during a question and answer session and a reception following the program.

This program is being co‐sponsored by NOAA Climate Prediction Center, University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, Iowa Water Center, Iowa State University Climate Science Program, and Iowa State University Bioeconomy Institute.
